![]() We purchased the first available version of Pro Tools and launched the new version to discover that there were now 4 audio tracks instead of 2. (See my History of Audio Post here.)Ī short time later, Pro Tools was introduced and everyone at the studio thought it was simply an upgrade to Sound Tools but with a different name. I took to it like a fish takes to water since I was already using computers, MIDI sequencers and drum machines - even replacing chips in drum machines - which is fitting since that is how Peter Gotcher and Evan Brooks started Digidesign back in 1984. Since I did so many ¼-inch tape edits, the studio manager was forward thinking enough to introduce a new 2-track digital editing system by Digidesign called Sound Tools. Back then we used ¼-inch analog tape with a razor blade to physically cut the tape. Think you’ll be using Pro Tools for the next 5 years? Renewing by December 31 with the new upgrade plan would save you $1,000 in 5 years. In 1990, I was working at a music studio where I did a lot of cut downs of 60s, 30s, 15s and 10s for TV and radio commercials. Think of it this way, if you renew by December 31 then you’re paying $99/year, if you don’t you’re paying $299 a year. This offer is basically rewarding current Pro Tools owners by allowing us to subscribe to a lower-priced subscription plan into the foreseeable future. If you see yourself using Pro Tools for the next few years the answer is definitely yes. It would still be worthwhile to purchase the license for your i-Lok so that when you do decide to abandon your old plugins (you’re going to have to eventually!) you’ll be able to upgrade to the newest version at the lower price. What if I’m still on Pro Tools 10 because of my 32-bit plugins? That said, if you decide that you want to upgrade at a later time, just purchase the $299 Annual Upgrade Plan to get current. You just won’t be able to upgrade your license or receive software updates. Yes, if you choose not to upgrade your software or renew an expiring plan, your Pro Tools perpetual license will continue to work. If you want access to the bonus plug-ins and support, add the Annual Plug-in and Support Plan for $99/year. This plan gives you access to all new Pro Tools releases for 12 months, renewable annually thereafter for $99/year. You’ll still be able to upgrade your software at any time, but the price of a new or reinstated Annual Upgrade Plan will increase to $299 starting in 2016. What happens if I don’t upgrade in 2015 or let my plan expire? Otherwise, you may not find it worth the money. If you’re a big fan of the Space plugin and/or play guitar or do a lot of guitar tracking/re-amping then this option may be good for you. This bundle consists of the Space reverb plugin (which admittedly is a great deal for the plugin) and 16 stompbox plugins pulled from their Eleven guitar interface. They use the term bonus because the plugins included cost significantly more purchased on their own. If you choose the $199 option, Avid promises 17 bonus plugins. What is this 17 bonus plug-in collection you speak of? Please note that the Annual Upgrade and Support Plan will be retired at the end of this year. You can purchase these upgrade plans through the Avid Store or your local reseller. Access to a collection of 17 bonus plugins and support, renewable annually thereafter for $99/year through the new Annual Plug-in and Support Plan.Access to all future Pro Tools releases for 12 months, renewable annually thereafter for $99/year through the new All Access Annual Upgrade Plan.Upgrade to Pro Tools 12 for $199 through the soon-to-be retired Annual Upgrade and Support Plan, which includes:.Upgrade to Pro Tools 12 for $99 through the new All Access Annual Upgrade Plan, which includes access to all future Pro Tools releases for 12 months, renewable annually for $99/year.If you are a Pro Tools 11 owner, you have two choices available, but only through December 31, 2015: Some questions you may be asking: How do I upgrade Pro Tools from now on? The subscription plan will also increase significantly if you don’t renew before the end of the year so it’s worth doing. You will no longer be able to purchase a standalone upgrades. After December 31, 2015, all Pro Tools upgrades will only be available through an Avid® All Access plan. For better or worse, most software programs are going this route: getting rid of stand alone versions of software and moving towards a subscription based incremental updates. One of the biggest was Avid’s move towards a subscription program called Avid® All Access. Pro Tools has gone through some substantial changes since Avid took over a few years ago. ![]()

![]() If the campaign reaches $50,000, Shock Clock will come with the option to be upgraded to unlock the full suite of Pavlok habit-busting features. Ironically, given the whole habit-breaking thing, Shock Clock is a essentially a gateway drug to the full Pavlok experience. What's more, it's cheaper, starting at $79 for early birds (it's being crowdfunded), eventually selling for $100. To offset that, Shock Clock costs a chunk less than Pavlok and will come with a revamped, more feature-rich app. Given that the hardware is effectively the same, it might feel like you're being sold the same shoes twice - especially since the Pavlok Alarm app already also exists. You can disable notifications at any time in your settings menu. I went straight for shocks because why not? A quick side note: The shocks aren't crazy strong, but they were stronger than I expected - enough to make my open hand visibly twitch. ![]() You can go straight in for shocks, or give yourself a chance, and wake to a vibration on the wrist and/or beeps before deploying a shock as the last resort. Pair the wristband with the Pavlok Alarm app (available for iOS and Android), and then configure your wake-up punishment of choice. Now they're hoping to abolish the snooze button with this single-purpose version. The makers claim their original zap-dispensing wearable has helped cure everything from sugar cravings to tobacco addiction. If Shock Clock seems familiar, that's because it's essentially the same product as the existing Pavlok we wrote about two years ago. Pavlok claims it's to program yourself - via aversion therapy - into permanently becoming a morning person. Unlike conventional methods, though, the idea here isn't to shock you every morning. It's aimed at chronic "snoozers" for whom loud music, the radio and regular alarm clocks aren't enough. The idea behind the Shock Clock is pretty simple: Punch in your desired wake-up time then tell it to vibrate, beep or give you an electric shock (or all three, in that order) to wake you up. ![]() Sunshine in the mornings, but is an electric shock really the answer? Pavlok, the team behind the Shock Clock band thinks so, and luckily enough for you, I hate myself just enough that I was willing to find out if it works. How hard is it to get up in the morning? When you have a job - and want to keep it - most of us can usually haul our sleepy asses out from beneath the duvet, even if that's at the last minute. ![]() ![]() ![]() In total there are five different UTM parameters: source, medium, campaign, term and content. And the actual values you assign to these parameters it's entirely up to you! This enables a very simple, but powerful way to better organize your analytics data. By understanding how visitors interact with their website, website owners can make informed decisions about how to improve their website and marketing campaigns. In this case, the GA cookie represents the UTM parameters for the last. Google Analytics is a web analytics tool offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic, currently as a platform inside the Google Marketing Platform brand. Let's break it down into parts:Įach of those parameters will be parsed by the analytics software to better categorize the metrics being measured. Last click attribution is the most common attribution model employed by Google Analytics. There's the website name, and various parameters that come after it. Here's what a basic URL with UTM parameters looks like: Without UTMs, you would be missing out on important information that helps you understand which pages are most relevant for particular visitors. Now wouldn't it be useful to know from which sources are your visitors coming from? That's where UTM Parameter comes in, as they let you add small bits of text to your links so that you can "tag" the metrics each time someone clicks on that particular link. Google Analytics is where UTMs started, thus the built in reports in the acquisition section of the system breaks down traffic by the UTM paramerts discussed. And, if you know that, you have far more insight into which of your emails and email campaigns are most profitable. But your email got the whole chain started. People discover your website through these links. Without Google Analytics UTM parameters, the purchase above might get attributed to your blog or classified as search engine traffic. After the GA sequence comes the client ID. There are probably links to your website spread around the Internet, think things like social media posts, blog posts, tutorials on how to use your product, and whatnot. GA.1.2 is for Universal Analytics, and GA.1.1 is for Google Analytics 4. These parameters are little bits of text that are placed in website links and are used by analytics software, such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Kissmetrics and Panelbear, to better understand where a website's traffic is coming from, and which content is most relevant. UTM stands for "Urchin Tracking Module", which comes from the Google Analytics predecessor called Urchin, acquired by Google in 2005. ![]() ![]() ![]() In other words, it heightens your culinary experience. One of our favorite recipes using mocha is an easy and quick cheesecake where frozen mocha coffee is melted and poured over the top, or you can try a lighter version of tiramisu with ladyfingers soaked in mocha syrup instead of alcohol. How is mocha used in cooking? Caffeine friends aren't the only ones who benefit from mocha's rich flavor! If you want to add a bit of sweetness and intensity to your next dessert recipe or cake, there is no need to reach for any artificial ingredients-mocha can do the job! The key is to find a mixture of mocha that suits your recipe because you never know how much chocolate or coffee flavor will be needed. Mocha in iced coffee comes in a shot of espresso, milk, and chocolate syrup. It does not have as much caffeine as other classic drinks, such as latte's can, but it has a great taste with an excellent aroma! If you are anxious about its taste and aroma, there is much information to let you enjoy and have the same feeling of drinking coffee. For anyone who thinks "coffee culture" is the same as American Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts - it's not. For all who love coffee, Italy is a paradise too. There are plenty of ways you can make your cup of American mocha. How do Americans use mocha? Caffeine levels aside, the American version of a mocha is similar to its European counterpart in that it is made by mixing chocolate with coffee. This drink was very popular in the 1960s due to its high-calorie count, making it perfect for sharing! Europeans also enjoy mocha ice cream and even bake it into cakes or brownies. Europeans sometimes add liquor to their mocha for a stronger flavor. Instead of a mixture of chocolate and coffee, this version is made from hot milk and melted or chopped chocolate. The European version of a mocha is very different from its American counterpart, which is why we are talking about it here. What is Mocha, and how do different cultures use it? In France, the terms "Chocolat Chaud" and "Moka" are used for this drink. But if you are, this is your chance to figure out what it means finally! This article will tell you all about mocha and how it can be used in recipes or drinks. If you are not a coffee drinker, then the word "mocha" may sound like some ancient Asian warrior. There are plenty of variations, including white chocolate. Mocha is not just any old cup of o' joe, though this beverage contains caffeine and sugar, so be careful if you are sensitive to sugar! Mocha can be served either hot or cold.Īs far as taste goes, some people find mocha too sweet while others love its rich flavor. Together, these create a rich flavor with notes of chocolate, caramel, earthy spices like cinnamon or nutmeg, and fruity flavors such as raspberry or orange blossom, which can come from their addition. It is made up of espresso and hot chocolate milk. Mocha is an intensely flavorful coffee blend that originated in Ethiopia and was brought over to Europe by traders from Yemen in the late 1700s. Some say the name came from the Arabic word "mukha," meaning "upside-down." Others believe it is called mocha because it resembles cocoa powder (cacao). Mocha, or coffee with chocolate added, has been a popular drink in Europe and North America for centuries. What is mocha? Amplifier modules like Audio amplifiers, signal Amplifier etc.Driver Modules like Relay Driver, LED driver etc. When uses as an Amplifier the DC current gain of the Transistor can be calculated by using the below formulaeĭC Current Gain = Collector Current (I C) / Base Current (I B) Applications Of the above types common emitter type is the popular and mostly used configuration. Some of the configurations used in amplifier circuits are It can amplify power, voltage and current at different configurations. These are high quality BJT NPN transistors that work well with audio applications, made by ST Micro. Where, the value of V BE should be 5V for BC547 and the Base current (I B depends on the Collector current (I C). BC547 Transistor Explained / Description:BC547 is a general-purpose BJT NPN transistor mostly used in electronics hobbyists and educational electronics. The value of this resistor (R B) can be calculated using below formulae. Anything more than 5mA will kill the Transistor hence a resistor is always added in series with base pin. Type of Transformer : BJT Transistor Package : TO-92 Transistor Polarity : NPN Power Dissipation at. As mentioned the biasing current should maximum of 5mA. Furthermore, the maximum bias current to the BC547 transistor is 5mA. The transistor BC547s maximum collector current, or maximum allowed current, is 800Ma. ![]() As discussed a transistor will act as an Open switch during Forward Bias and as a Closed switch during Reverse Bias, this biasing can be achieved by supplying the required amount of current to the base pin. The BC547 transistor is a general-purpose bipolar NPN transistor with a gain range of 110 to 800Hfe, which determines the amplification capability of the transistor device. When a transistor is used as a switch it is operated in the Saturation and Cut-Off Region as explained above. When base current is removed the transistor becomes fully off, this stage is called as the Cut-off Region and the Base Emitter voltage could be around 660 mV. This stage is called Saturation Region and the typical voltage allowed across the Collector-Emitter (V CE) or Base-Emitter (V BE) could be 200 and 900 mV respectively. When this transistor is fully biased then it can allow a maximum of 100mA to flow across the collector and emitter. To bias a transistor we have to supply current to base pin, this current (I B) should be limited to 5mA. The maximum amount of current that could flow through the Collector pin is 100mA, hence we cannot connect loads that consume more than 100mA using this transistor. Brief Description on BC547īC547 transistor has a gain value of 110 to 800, this value determines the amplification capacity of the transistor. The base of a transistor gets biased with the NTC thermistor along with the variable resistor whereas the buzzer is connected to the output of the transistor. It turns on a Buzzer whenever the temperature exceeds the limits and vice versa. Note: Complete Technical Details can be found at the BC547 datasheet given at the end of this page. In the heat sensor circuit, the NPN transistor BC547 acts as a switch.

Through gene engineering, researchers at the Mayo Clinic were able to purge the mice of their senescent cells, effectively slowing the aging effect these old cells have on the tissues. The immune system regularly removes senescent cells from tissues during an animal's life, but does so less efficiently as it grows older. These old cells accumulate in the aging tissues of the body in arthritic hands and cataracts in the eyes. Senescent cells are those which continue to survive after they've lost the ability to divide.
